Citroen Dyane 6 Van (1979). Click to view full imageCITROEN DYANE 6-400 COMMERCIAL-1979. 602cc 4.91 H.P. Solex Carburettor- Original paint Beige with Knocks and dents. Tyres 135x15. Top of the range five seater, side windows, heater, parcel shelf and a lockable glove box! Final evolution of the French DEAUX CHEVAUX- two Horses, also known as the snail, as icebergs move faster.

First Registered in IBI near Alcoy (December1978). Only 65,000 km from new-one owner and was only used in the campo to pick Olives. Hence her name OLIVE. Bought in February 2007 is in remarkable original condition with little rust a good chassis (not bent) and needed only minor work to put in working order. We have fitted four new tyres, exhaust, and a given her a good clean. Over a kilo of dried olives where recovered from the interior, but passed the crushing stage. She is used two or three times a week and is an experience and joy to drive, I always smile going round corners on the door handles. Very few Vans left in this condition, but these and the cars are excellent starter classics, a good one can be bought for around 2000¢, BUT make sure all the paperwork is correct, otherwise they can only be used for spares!

They were built in vast numbers in France an under license in Spain in Vigo Northen Spain. Mainly aimed at the farmers to replace their horse and cart. The originals really where just like tin sheds with lots of corrugations and 375cc Engines, that developed through to The Dyane (Egg) shape with the rounded corners and 602cc. The air cooled engine is a flat twin, horizontally opposed unit with oil cooler and big fan, same set up as the Porsche and VW. Designed to run flat out for long periods, and require little servicing except oil changes.
