Salt Lost? and Castle Found!
Sunday 30 November 2008
48 members braved a cold wet morning to meet at the El Realengo services near Catral, after a short interval on the motorway we turned off for a more scenic route. Touching Aspe we followed the beautiful tree lined route to Novelda and on to Monovar. Then we entered the real Spain stopping at Salinas for welcome refreshments and a brisk walk to the village square and the San Antonio Abad church built in 1751.Then on to the castle of Sax that has dominated the region for so many centuries. We left Sax and proceeded along the twisty road to Elda and on to Crevillente for lunch.
