V Concentracion Automoviles Classicos Mar Menor
On Sunday 9 November, 40 of our members with 20 cars met up on this warm, sunny Autumn day to make their way in convoy to the V Concentracion of the Club Automoviles Clasicos Mar Menor. We made our way to the Esplanada of Lo Pagan and before 11am there were well over 200 cars making up a splendid display by the seafront and marina. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Mariano, the President and goody bags were distributed to members together with a welcome cup of hot chocolate and cakes. We had a leisurely couple of hours to mingle and chat and practice our Spanish!
At noon, we left in procession for the customary “recorrido de sus calles” to drive around the municipality, and the sight of all the varied and interesting classic vehicles in action was met with great enthusiasm from the public who had assembled to watch and soak in the atmosphere. It was an amazing drive of “follow the leader” and at one point we had cars converging from four different directions on a roundabout so there was obviously more than one leader!
We then returned to the Esplanada for a further display and giant paella was soon ready for the hungry participants!
Presentations were made to/from all the participating Clubs, followed by the grand raffle draw for the Mercedes 450 SEL.
