Brian & Adrian`s Drive
The weather forecast had warned us about “ cloudy and rain ” but it didn’t say how much cloud or how much rain, so we met, had our coffee and set off on the run into the hills of the Sierra Espuña.
We hadn’t gone more than a few kilometers before the heavens opened and dampened every body’s spirits,
( not to mention some trouser legs ).
Thank goodness the first coffee stop was not too far away, and on arriving there, the general feeling was that it would be a waste of time going into the misty wet hills, so a vote was taken and unanimously agreed to cancel the drive until we could be more certain of better weather.
The restaurant where we were having lunch was called, and without any problem said we could arrive there for our lunch at 13.00 instead of the arranged 14.30, so off we went, back through the rain to the meeting point which was also our lunch stop.
We arrived to a warm welcome and enjoyed a very good meal, together with a good friendly atmosphere and despite the bad weather had a very good, but shorter day.
The whole run will be done again when the weather allows, but the mountains won’t come to us so we must go to them.
The next drive is “ The Ricote Valley ” on April the 26th.
