Annual General Meeting

The Clubs 3rd Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday the 25th of November 2009 at the Castillo De Conesa in San Miguel de Salinas.

Forty members attended this meeting in order to hear the Formal Annual Report for 2008/2009 which was presented by the President Bruce Rowbotham. Bruce informed us that the beginning of the year had been a near disaster for the club because of the untimely departure of the former President and her husband ( Elaine and Neil Evans ) whom unfortunately had to return to Britain for personal reasons. Luckily their places were at the last moment filled by our present Secretary Trish Mansell and her husband Tony whom together with the former committee members have managed to bring the club back to its feet and have created a very successful year.

The next item on the agenda was the Statement of the Club Accounts which unfortunately had not been finalized because of the personal circumstances of the Treasurer Sandra Baker. The President assured the members that the club finances were sound and proposed that after auditing, the Treasurer presents her report to the members at the January 2010 Club Night. All members agreed to this course of action.

Then followed the secret ballot for the new Council of Members. All former Committee Members ( with the exception of Eric Clarke ) had put themselves forward as candidates for the following year, and were reinstated into their former positions together with two new Vocal positions which were voted on and filled by Gill Collins and Colin Edghill. The new Council of Members took their places and were welcomed by their President Bruce Rowbotham, and a special welcome went to the two new Council Members that have now joined the Committee.
The President then addressed Eric and thanked him for all the work that he has put into the events that the club has enjoyed over the last years, and quite correctly said that Eric would be sadly missed but also hoped that he would at some time in the near future produce another one of his very interesting drives.
Eric in turn spoke to the members and thanked them for their appreciation of his work and told the members that it was also due to the work of Ann his good lady, and that he is not leaving us, just taking a needed break and is stepping down to give someone else a chance to prove themselves and their imagination with club events.

Jeff Sheridan took the initiative and in the name of all members thanked the committee for their hard and successful work during the past year, and a round of applause from the members verified his opinion.

The president closed the meeting and the rest of the evening continued on a lighter note.

Our next informal meeting is the ‘ Ace Café ’ in Los Montesinos on Sunday December the 6th.
