Phoenix Christmas Lunch

Before the off. Click to view full imageOn Thursday 13 December, a group of our members descended on the Fortaleza restaurant carpark in full Christmas regalia – cars and members alike! As you can imagine, the faces of the staff serving coffee at the restaurant before we set off on our drive were a real picture...

After coffee we set off for a tranquil drive around the lovely lakes and through the pine forests in the area – it was a lovely sunny day so the lakes looked beautiful with the reflection of the water glistening in the sun. We atttracted a lot of attention as members and cars were dressed for Christmas and received lots of smiles and waves as we went along.

Lunch was at the Rebate Restaurant in their beautiful function room. The restaurant is set on a high terrace in the wonderful surroundings of an old restored finca. We had decided not to have a traditional Christmas lunch, so time was spent making some difficult decisions on what to select from their excellent menu del dia.

Elaine thanked Alan/Sandra and Eric/Ann for arranging the day. A toast was made to the new Club, which has continued to flourish over the last few months, and everyone said how much they were looking forward to the events and activities planned for 2008.

The raffle was a great success with a number of members donating the prizes and around €120 was raised for the Club. Some of the prizes generated a lot of laughs – ask Peter R what he won!?!

It certainly was a long Spanish lunch – people enjoyed themselves so much that a lot of members were still there at 5pm even though we arrived for lunch at 1pm!!

Please go to the Image Gallery part of the website to see lots more photographs of the day.
